SEED Project: A Shared Ecosystem for Enduring Development

Empowering youth to co-create a connected and inclusive future.

SEED (Shared Ecosystem for Enduring Development) is a transformative youth initiative that empowers Malaysian university students to become changemakers in an interconnected world. Inspired by the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the vision of “Building a Global Community with a Shared Future,” SEED fosters meaningful cross-cultural exchange, leadership, and sustainable collaboration between China and Malaysia.

Through immersive workshops, simulation-based learning, and nationwide youth brainstorming camps, SEED creates a living ecosystem of ideas, empathy, and action. Participants explore key global issues—ranging from sustainability and innovation to cultural exchange and inclusive growth—while building the mindset and skills needed to shape a more resilient and equitable future.

Rooted in 3 core values—Shared Creation(共建), Shared Collaboration(共享), and Shared Prosperity(共富)—SEED equips youth to not only understand the world, but to co-create it for generations to come.

  • Shared Creation (共建)

Shared Creation refers to the joint development of ideas, technologies, and solutions through integrated efforts that combine the unique strengths of multiple stakeholders. By encouraging diverse perspectives and collaborative innovation, it lays the foundation for building sustainable and forward-looking communities.

At SEED, students dive into Shared Creation, where every idea matters. From building straw houses together and discussing strategies on upgrading lands, to buying straws, cards, and new roles — participants create their own path to survival. Even simple acts like making paper stars symbolize teamwork and innovation.

  • Shared Collaboration (共享)

Shared Collaboration involves pooling resources, knowledge, and governance frameworks to achieve mutually beneficial goals. It fosters trust and collective responsibility, enabling all parties to contribute effectively toward common objectives.

SEED’s Shared Collaboration phase brings students face-to-face with the power of working together. Teams interact, negotiate, and share resources, learning to balance competition with cooperation. Whether exchanging cards or forming alliances, participants discover that success is impossible without collaboration.

  • Shared Prosperity (共富)

Shared Prosperity emphasizes inclusive economic growth that benefits all societal segments, particularly marginalized groups. It seeks to reduce disparities by ensuring that progress and opportunities are equitably distributed, creating a fairer and more resilient society.

Shared Prosperity is the culmination of SEED — when students sign the Declaration of Alliance, celebrate their collective achievements, and realize the power of unity. From happy faces receiving new cards to everyone gathering in their completed straw house, these moments capture the joy of shared success.
