
Introduction:
The Malaysia-China Belt & Road Institute (MCBRI) operates as a focal educational unit within the
Southeast Asia Research Centre for Humanities (SEARCH). Its primary objective is to facilitate academic collaboration between China and Malaysia, focusing on research and knowledge exchange, talent development, collaborative projects and publications, sharing educational resources, and
jointly developing educational programs. MCBRI’s membership includes both institution members and fellowship members. Institution members encompass various entities such as universities, research institutes, and think tanks from Malaysia and China that share a mutual interest in advancing
academic cooperation between the two countries. Meanwhile, fellowship members comprise individual academics, visiting researchers, scholars, as well as PhD and Master’s students hailing from both Malaysia and China, all of whom are eager to share their expertise and research efforts in the realm of Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) collaboration.
Belt & Road Overseas Venture Incubator (BROVI)
Introduction:
Belt & Road Overseas Venture Incubator (BROVI) operates as a unit specializing in incubating
overseas business ventures within the Southeast Asia Research Centre for Humanities (SEARCH). Its main goal is to foster and facilitate collaborative business ventures across borders or overseas between China and Malaysia. This encompasses activities such as joint ventures, cross-border investments involving technology and skill transfer, nurturing tech-based startups, market-driven research and development innovation, commercialization efforts, and establishing business networks. BROVI will work closely with government agencies such as MIDA and MATRADE and brings together entrepreneurs who share a common interest in advancing business cooperation between the two nations. The unit regularly arranges overseas business trips in various formats including business matching, networking events, forums, roundtable discussions, company visits, and investment briefings to facilitate crossborder business collaborations between China and Malaysia.
