我们的故事 Our Story

Our Story Introduction:

The friendship between China and Malaysia can be traced back to the Tang and Song Dynasties. Especially during the Ming Dynasty, Zheng He made seven voyages to the West and stationed in Malacca five times. This established a profound friendship between the Ming Dynasty and the Malacca Dynasty and brought peace and prosperity for years afterwards.

On May 31, 1974, Malaysia took the lead in breaking through Cold War and became the first ASEAN country to formally establish diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China, creating a historic moment for the bilateral relations between the two countries. In 2013, Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Malaysia, and the leaders of the two countries reached a consensus to upgrade the bilateral relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership. At the same time, Malaysia is not only an important node in the Belt and Road Initiative, but also a pioneer in promoting win-win cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, becoming one of the first countries and regions to enjoy the results of mutual benefits.

In this extraordinary year 2024, China and Malaysia jointly celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Along the way, China and Malaysia have frequently exchanged high-level visits, carried out extensive and pragmatic collaboration in various fields of politics, culture and education, and people-to-people exchanges have become increasingly close, reflecting the core spirit of the “Belt and Road Initiative”, that is, China and Malaysia are A community with a shared future based on win-win cooperation and people-to-people connections.

“Our Story” Belt and Road Initiative National Tour Sharing Sessions aims to use real-life stories and achievements, personally shared by beneficiaries, participants or witnesses of China-Malaysia cooperation, so that the Malaysian can deeply understand and identify with China-Malaysia relations from a different perspective, allowing the younger generation to re-understand and identify China as a good neighbor and partner of Malaysia.
